Josh, Jon and Ben Drill
2009 will be a very busy year for the Drill Team and for Josh Drill in particular! We will be participating in two environmental bike rides as Josh's Bar Mitzvah "mitzvah project" and, through the rides, will be raising money for two wonderful organizations, both doing great work on tiny budgets - the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies and Hazon.
First, Josh and Jon sucessfully returned from quite an adventure - the Arava Institute Israel Ride (April 28 to May 5, 2009), a 300 mile bike ride from Tel Aviv to Eilat. Neither desert heat nor sandstorms (and we are not kidding about this) deterred us from this challenge which perfectly combined our love of biking, the environment and Israel.
Next, over Labor Day weekend (September 4 to 7, 2009) Josh, Jon and Ben (with riding buddy Peter Miller from their Congregation Agudath Israel cycling club) are planning to be part of over 200 riders in Hazon’s 2009 Jewish Environmental Bike Ride. We will ride 100 miles into Manhattan over two days. We have taken on this challenge to help raise environmental awareness, and to add the Jewish community's voice to calls for environmental responsibility. The money raised from this Ride will be used to support Hazon’s year-round work with food in the Jewish community. The funds are also distributed to support innovative environmental projects here and in Israel.
We are determined to fulfill our riding and fundraising plans for 2009 but need your help to do so. As participants in both of the rides, we are committed to reaching our goals but we need your help.
We ask you to sponsor us for both of these bike rides by making a tax-deductible contribution. Thank you in advance for your help.
